Massage therapy is used to loosen up tight muscles and the connective tissue surrounding the muscle fibers. This therapy is very specific. Meaning, that we focus on the problem, and also work on the antagonistic muscles that can be causing the issue. This is massage with movement! Using passive range of motion, massage is applied going against or with the muscle fibers. When a tight muscle is found, pressure is added. The joint is moved to passively shorten and lengthen the muscle. Sometimes the movement is active! Activating a tight muscle and applying massage against its direction helps release a muscular adhesion.
This is great for relieving high tension headaches or migraines, tingling and numbness down arms, increasing the range of motion in the joints, sciatic pain, and much more.
